NAMI Maine is Looking for Another Peer Support Specialist to work with Incarcerated Women.
A huge part of recovery from mental health challenges including substance use disorder is giving back to one’s community – supporting the healing and growth of our peers while empowering them to live their best lives, wherever they are.
At NAMI Maine we not only endorse recovery and giving back, but we have an employment opportunity for a recovering and formerly incarcerated individual to support the residents of the Women’s Center in Windham. As a peer support specialist, they will share their journey in recovery and the tools and practices used to build a meaningful life while incarcerated and following release. Working one-on-one with the residents and co-facilitating mental health and recovery workshops, the Peer Support Specialist will foster hope, cultivate trust, encourage connection, and inspire the residents to set goals and achieve them. Throughout all of their interactions with the residents and staff the peer support specialist will create and maintain an environment of kindness and respect that encourages positive growth and personal accountability…as an ambassador for recovery and an ally of those who seek it.
The Peer Support Specialist is a paid full-time position with excellent benefits. To learn more, email Rebecca at Rebecca@namimaine.org or to apply send a cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.orgShift Hours:
