Shipping Operator
Easton, ME – FT/Days – Temporary Opportunity

Job Description:

Immediate opening for a Shipping Operator to work for a well-established facility in Easton. Seasonal assignment expected to last for five to six months. Great opportunity to build experience and establish connections with an excellent local employer. FT/Days; 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday; $21.00 – $22.00/hr.

The Shipping Operator will organize and load batches of finished and partially finished lumber products for storage and shipment. Employee will operate motorized equipment and vehicles, track product inventory and materials, cover shipments with protective tarps, and manage the loading, unloading, and delivery of supplies to points of use.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate motorized equipment and vehicles in the unloading and loading of inventory and finished goods.
  • Follow established inspection and maintenance procedures on all equipment and notify supervisors and maintenance personnel of potential equipment failures.
  • Inspect condition of finished goods before, during, and after loading.
  • Detect and report defective materials and/or questionable conditions to supervisor.
  • Operate an automated tarp system to protect outbound shipments of products.
  • Deliver finished product and supplies to storage areas and points of use around the facility.
  • Control traffic in and around warehouse by providing direction to truck drivers throughout the unloading and loading process.
  • Enter, collect, and analyze information from various computer databases.
  • Demonstrate courtesy and sound judgment during frequent contact with truck drivers, co-workers, and supervisory staff.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by performing general housekeeping and organizing inventory/shipping areas in compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Cooperate and maintain good communication with other departments in order to ensure that all production quotas are met in a safe and well-coordinated manner.
  • Screen and direct visitors entering the plant. Issue safety equipment to individuals on the job site as needed.
  • Weigh trucks entering and leaving the plant. Examine shipping documents presented by truck drivers and review Bills of Lading in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Inspect and record permits from employees for tools or materials taken from premises.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, state, local, and corporate environmental and safety regulations.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or injuries to the site supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by site supervisor.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Drug screening and fitness test required.

 

Schedule: FT/Days; 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday
Pay: $21.00 – $22.00/hr.
